BlogSpam

Well there were four BlogSpam comments posted to today's blog, so I have changed the settings to require anonymous commenters to verify a word presented as an image. I've had an occasional bit of BlogSpam before, but four in the same day is a bit OTT, so my apologies to all you anonymous commenters, whoever you are! Now if only killing off all those "Pepsi vs Coke" pfishing scams that have been showing up in my mailboxes were only so easy.

I got one spam comment over RBTS, and from reading this, looked for that new setting and activated it. Thanks for the heads up! I'm surprised that Blogger comment spam hasn't been happening like this sooner, since its inception. Kudos to the Blogger folks, though, for giving us that word verification option.

Oy, the phising... One of my Gmail accounts had been hit hard with a lot of it; thankfully it's waned a bit.But this 'soda spamming'? Haven't heard of that one yet...

Seems like there was this bug flurry of email with subject lines like "Pepsi vs. Coke" and vice-versa, along with a few copycat "surveys" for various other products. I must have gotten about 50 of them over a few days. I think perhaps the spamkillers have found them now because they seem to have stopped rather suddenly.
